The inherent density, grain and characteristics of birch produce the powerful sound that is unique to this wood.  In addition to the powerful projection, attack and response they tune very easily and mic particularly well on the road or in the studio.

This series of drums are very well regarded in the industry with its main competitor being the Yamaha 9000 series.
